This is an actual lighthouse, Cape Disappointment, which is located in the state of Washington near the mouth of the Columbia River. Interestingly, this was my first original painting that sold in a large gallery in Carmel. The setting is with towering cliffs, a majestic lighthouse and a clipper ship. This was the first of my lighthouse paintings.
Del was born and raised in California. He is married and the father of three children. After college he began what he considers an ongoing life style of being self-taught. During his late twenties, he began his own sign/graphics business. Later he became art director for two electric sign corporations, one being the nation’s largest. He has freelanced doing full color architectural renderings for architects and developers in California and Nevada. For many years Del has had a strong passion for the ocean.
